ROTC
What?
ROTC is a college program offered at more than 1,000 colleges and universities. This program prepares individuals to become officers in the US military, while receiving their college degree. Every branch of the military (except the Coast Guard) has a ROTC unit with slightly different requirements and commitments. In general, ROTC consists of required military science courses taken in the classroom as well as field experience with "boot-camp-like" drilling. Students still attend other college classes as required by their degree. Upon graduation, cadets reach officer status and must serve in the US military for a designated amount of time (if they received a scholarship). Again, time served is regulated by the branch of military ROTC you served in.
