What?
The ACT is a standardized test used to evaluate your career and college readiness. It tests your knowledge in English, Math, Reading, and Science with an optional Writing section.
English: 75 questions – 45 minutes Mathematics: 60 questions – 60 minutes Reading: 40 questions – 35 minutes Science: 40 questions – 35 minutes Total: 215 questions Writing: 1 prompt – 30 minutes |
Who?
If any of the colleges you are considering requires the ACT you MUST take this test. Schools use the ACT as part of the admissions process, along with other factors including GPA, courses taken, extracurricular activities, awards and recognitions, jobs, etc.
ACT scores are accepted by ALL U.S. colleges and universities. |
When?
The ACT is offered on six test dates (one in September, October, December, February, April, and June).
You should take the ACT in spring of your junior year. You can retake the test again in the fall of your senior year if you want to try for a better result. |

- Sign up to receive the ACT Question of the Day.
- Register to take the ACT online well before the scheduled date to avoid late fees and the possibility of being "waitlisted"
- If you need special accommodations, register with the Services for Students with Disabilities.
- Answer ALL questions, even if you don't know the answer. Take your best guess!
- Get a good night's rest before you take the test

ACT Aspire
What?ACT Aspire is a one of a kind assessment and testing method for grades 3-8. Grades 9 and 10 will have assessment tests too (ACT Aspire Early High School). It will take full effect in Fall 2014 (replacing ACT Plan and ACT Explore). The purpose is help students stay on track in terms of college and career readiness, starting in elementary school.
English, math, reading, science, and writing are assessed using computer based testing. |
