Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery
ASVAB Test
The ASVAB was developed and is maintained by the Department of Defense (DoD). It is a test that measure aptitude, interests, and intellectual skills. It helps military personnel identify what careers might be a good match for you in the military. If you are planning to enlist in the military, this test is required.
If you are in grades 10, 11, or 12, ask your school counselor when the next test will be administered. The test can be retaken more than once, and it is important that you score high. The higher you score the more opportunities will be available to you in the military. Also, you may be qualified for more pay, signing bonuses, or better benefits. Sophomores scores are not used for enlistment eligibility.
The test takes about three hours and the results are sent to your school within a few weeks.
