Based on your scores, the military will provide you with a list of careers that match your abilities. The higher your score, the more options you will have. Each branch of the military requires a different qualifying score (the lowest being the army with a 31). The ASVAB test has typically been for students interested in joining the military. However, all students can use this test to assess their academic ability and predict potential successful careers. |
Who?
If you are interested in the military, then you MUST take the ASVAB test.
Many students take the ASVAB for career exploration and have no interest in military occupations. If this describes you, then you can take the test, too! |
When?
If you are interested in the military, you must take the test in your junior or senior year.
The test is open to anyone in grades 10-12. Talk with your recruiter and/or your school counselor to find out when and where the ASVAB is administered. You may be asked to go to your local MEP station, or the test may be offered at your high school. |
